2005 Workshops

Workshop #1 - Gene expression analysis using microfluidics-based RT‑PCR  - June 28 -30, 2005.

This workshop focused on new technology for gene expression analysis of human blood cells. We addressed the design of relevant microfluidics cards and performing high-throughput RT‑PCR, using commercially available technology and in-house design of the cards. Course manuals detailing experimental methods were developed by Dr. Bosch and her team. In addition to the training, expert analysis of the generated data was provided. We taught the course at UMASS Medical School.

Please check back here in the near future for a full run down on workshop results.

Workshop #2 - NCBI Bioinformatics Tools and Resources - August 2-3, 2005

The Center for Infectious Disease and Vaccine Research and Academic Computing present A Field Guide to GenBank and NCBI Molecular Biology Resources, a lecture and hands-on computer workshop by NCBI staff on GenBank and related databases covering effective use of the Entrez databases and search service, the BLAST similarity search engine, genome data and related resources. If you would like to review the NCBI training materials click here.

Workshop #3 - Global Gene Expression Profiling in vivo

2004 Workshop Results

Two workshops were conducted in 2004. In August 2004, a 2-day NCBI course was held at UMASS, attended by approximately 70 researchers. The course consisted of lectures and hands-on demonstration of NCBI internet-based bioinformatics resources. Feedback from attendees was very positive.
